Volunteers help us serve more people! We have lots of opportunities to help out in hands-on and behind the scenes ways. Check out the opportunities below, fill out the interest form, and we’ll get in touch!


For Groups

For Individuals

  • The WorkShop has been blessed by some generous donations of food from local companies. We are looking for volunteers on Tuesdays and Fridays to pick up donations and help sort, organize, and distribute them at the WorkShop.

    Time commitment: 2-4 hours at a time,

    1-2 times/ month or 1-2 times/ week, depending on your availability

  • Do you enjoy helping to organize events? We’re planning a spring 2024 fundraising breakfast, and we’d love to have you join our event planning team!

    Time commitment:

    2-4 hours/ month (including monthly meetings)

  • We always need lots of help at a fundraising event!! If you’d be interested in coming early or staying late, helping to check people in, serve food, run errands, clean up etc., we’d love to have you!

    Time commitment:

    3-4 hours on the day of an event

  • Help out with occasional office projects, such as filing, stuffing and stamping envelopes, and packaging donor gifts.

    Time commitment:

    As needs arise, especially in December and January.

  • Do you have skills in graphic design, photography, videography, or web design that you’d be interested in sharing with the WorkShop? We’d love to talk!

    Time commitment:

    As needs arise! This could be a one-time or occasional opportunity.

  • If you have intermediate computer skills, experience with looking for a job, and an ability to cheer others on, this one may be for you! Spend time with our Participants in the WorkShop computer lab, offering support in working on GEDs and other educational credentials, searching for and applying to jobs, and refining resumes and cover letters.

    Time commitment:

    1-2 hours at a time. This could be 1-2 times/ month or once/ week, depending on WorkShop needs and volunteer availability.

  • Meet with Program Participants and Alum to work together on goals around budgeting, saving, investing, and purchasing a home.

    Time commitment:

    1-2 hours at a time, once a week for several weeks.

  • Do you have a background in finances, people management, human resources, social work, or counseling?

    We’re looking for professionals interested in teaching seminars on a personal or career development topic such as personal finances and investing, career development (e.g. networking on LinkedIn, interview skills), personality and skills assessments, resilience-building, and more. If you’re interested in serving our program participants in this capacity, we’d love to talk!

    Time commitment:

    11:00-12:30 on a Wednesday. This could be a one-time or occasional opportunity.

  • If you have experience with hiring or managing employees, this is a great opportunity for you! We’re seeking volunteers able to conduct practice interviews for our participants as they near the end of our program and are actively engaged in job search.

    Time commitment:

    1-4 hours at a time, several times/ year

  • We have a variety of building improvement projects such as painting, decorating, and minor repairs. This would be a great opportunity for a group who wants to support the WorkShop in a hands-on way!

    Time commitment:

    Half-day to a full day, depending on the project and number of volunteers. Flexible scheduling - we can work with your availability!

  • Providing breakfast or lunch for our employees is a great way to help out our WorkShop community. This is a perfect opportunity for groups or individuals who like to cook or would enjoy ordering something and bringing it by the Shop. Freezer-ready meals and sandwiches can be really helpful too - a practical way to help tight budgets go further. And if you'd like to hang out and join us for lunch break, we would love that too!

  • We love to have certain essential items on hand for any of our Participants who need them. If you’re interested in helping us stay well-stocked, let us know! We can provide you with a list.

  • Is your company interested in corporate volunteering? This is a great opportunity for you! Your staff members with experience in interviewing and hiring can conduct practice interviews for our participants as they near the end of our program and are actively engaged in job search.
